VAPH
VAPH (Vlaams Agentschap voor Personen met een Handicap) is the Flemish government agency dedicated to helping people with disbilities. For children, VAPH focuses on promoting their participation and inclusion by providing access to care, support, and personalized services.
How Does VAPH Support Children with Disabilities?
- Assistive Technology and Home Adaptations: VAPH provides allowances to help families buy necessary devices or make home and car adaptations to improve accessibility and comfort.
- Personal Assistance Budget for Minors: Families can apply for a budget that helps organize support at home or school. This allows children to receive the care they need in their daily life.
- Specialized Support Centres: VAPH accredits centres where children can receive diagnosis, day care, residential support, and psychosocial help tailored to their needs.
- Directly Accessible Support: For families needing occasional help, there are services that do not require a formal application — like short-term care or support groups — making assistance easier to access quickly.
Who Can Benefit?
Children with long-term and significant disabilities — whether physical, sensory, intellectual, or psychological—can benefit from VAPH’s services.
